Purpose: The aim of this study is to present a model for new product development in startups with a digital entrepreneurship approach.
Methodology: The research method is applied and is mixed (qualitative-quantitative) in terms of data collection. The qualitative research method was qualitative content analysis with an inductive approach. The research population included entrepreneurs, digitalization specialists, and industry and university experts. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and coded using the content analysis method. To examine the validity in the qualitative section, the triangulation method and the Christiansen angulation technique were used.
Funding: The proposed model includes 13 main components at five levels. The Meek Mac analysis also identified the position of the identified variables in five groups: risk variable (entrepreneurial innovation and competitor analysis), influential (fundamentals, ideation and validation, development and optimization), regulatory (commercialization and marketing, environmental factors, focus on agility, digital leadership, development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem); secondary lever (user experience) and influential (scaling and sustainability and integration of the digital ecosystem).
Originality/ value: So far, no research has been conducted in Iran on new product development in startups with a digital entrepreneurship approach, and the importance of the research innovation is due to the addition of digital entrepreneurship.
Recommendations: It is recommended that startups consider an integrated and flexible framework in order to develop a new product with a digital entrepreneurship approach. This framework can provide a suitable strategic path for decision-makers and entrepreneurs by focusing on innovation, agility, user experience, risk management, and continuous optimization.
