Purpose: Mindfulness at the workplace acts as a catalyst to enhance proactive career behavior by fostering greater interaction, emotional regulation, adaptability, and positive interpersonal relationships. Therefore, given the growing recognition of mindfulness benefits by organizations, it is possible to cultivate a more dynamic and engaged workforce. Accordingly, the present study aimed to examine the relationship between workplace mindfulness, well-being, and proactive work behavior, considering the mediating role of organizational mindfulness.
Methodology: This descriptive correlational study targeted employees of the Iran Oil Pipeline and Telecommunication Company in the Lorestan region in 2024 (Iranian calendar year 1403). A sample of 300 participants was selected using convenience sampling. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SPSS version 26 and AMOS version 22.
Findings: Results indicated that all direct paths, except for the path from organizational mindfulness to well-being, were statistically significant (p < 0.01). Additionally, both indirect paths were significant. Therefore, organizational mindfulness plays a mediating role in the relationship between workplace mindfulness and both proactive work behavior and well-being (p < 0.01).
Originality/ value: This study contributes to industrial and organizational psychology by evaluating the role of mindfulness in enhancing employee well-being and proactive work behavior, thereby advancing the quality of life for employees and increasing organizational productivity.
Recommendations: Given the confirmation of the proposed model, organizations are recommended to provide training on individual and organizational mindfulness for their employees and to consider these critical individual and organizational variables during recruitment and selection processes.
