Increasing work and organizational pressures cause a stressful situation
and burnout among human resources. The objective of this research
is to investigate the role of personality traits in burnout formation.
Research methodology includes both descriptive and correlation
analysis based on structural equations modeling. Research population
consists of 186 employees of the National Iranian Refining and
Distribution Company out of whom 111 ones were selected,
using simple random sampling method based on Morgan
formula. Main tool of gathering data was questionnaire.
Research results indicate that personality dimensions such as
agreeableness, extraversion and openness to experience have
a negative and meaningful relationship with burnout whereas
neuroticismhasapositiveandmeaningfulrelationshipwithburnout. Finally,
consciousness didn’t have a meaningful relationship with burnout.
