Most researches related to industrial strategy domain fall into two levels: macro (national or industry sector), and corporate. However, studying the level of each industry and its relationship with the higher and lower levels has not adequately been taken into consideration. Therefore, the main question of this research is what the components of petrochemical industry strategy are and what type of relationship exists among them. To answer this question, the models related to the three levels of industry were investigated and finally the models STEEPELD, Porter’s Competitive Forces and Porter’s Diamond were applied to study the relationship among these levels and to develop a model based on them. This model development was made possible
through interpretive structural modeling (ISM) and projections of experts of the National Iranian Petrochemical Company. The outcomes of this methodology are three micro-models and a comprehensive model, called the final model of petrochemical industry strategy.
