Purpose: The purpose of this research is to provide a theoretical and practical framework for developing human development policies in organizations based on Qur’anic anthropology. The central research question is: based on the values and characteristics of the human being presented in the Qur’an, what “policy imperatives” can be extracted for human development in organizations to guide the formulation of organizational human development policies?
Design/methodology/approach: This study adopts a qualitative design using conceptual analysis. Relevant Qur’anic verses on human values and characteristics were identified and analyzed through reference to authoritative exegetical sources. Based on conceptual analysis and semantic field analysis, the managerial and organizational imperatives corresponding to each human characteristic were extracted.
Findings: The findings indicate that human values and characteristics in the Qur’an can be categorized into two major classes: (1) essential and inherent values and characteristics, and (2) potential psychological–behavioral characteristics. Conceptual analysis of these two classes led to the identification of five principal dimensions for organizational human development: spiritual–divine, ethical–value-based, rational–epistemic, psychological–emotional, and social. Each of these five dimensions includes specific policy components such as organizational spirituality enhancement, spiritual steadfastness, ethical strengthening, moral care, moral transparency, development of knowledge and learning, valuing wisdom, mental health protection, psychological resilience, and enhancement of autonomy and choice. Collectively, these dimensions and components constitute the final framework for formulating organizational human development policy from the lens of Qur’anic anthropology.
