In order to plan effective interventions in an Iranian work organization, an Adaptive Coping Cycle (Schein, 1988) was planned with respect to earlier research findings on perceived organizational culture and on employees' job -satisfaction. Two and a half years after the beginning of the said program, a second questionnaire was administered to a representative sample of 150 Iranian male employees. This questionnaire consisted among others of an Iranian job satisfaction scale (Mortazavi 1992), the job-satisfaction scale of Licolnet al. (1985), which has been used as a validity criterion for the Iranian scale as well as the organizational commitment scale of Porter et al. (1974) and an index measuring employment security. The Iranian job satisfaction scale revealed considerable "internal criteria validity" Positive and significant associations were observed between "paternalistic supervision", job-satisfaction, organizational commitment and employment security. "Paternalistic supervision" showed negative and signficant correlation with" individualistic autocracy". No increase was observed with respect to job- satisfaction and employment security. A lengthening of the Adaptive Coping Cycle and stress on participative activities were recommended.
